It Must Be Love...

This is what I came home to yesterday...
Homemade guacamole.
(Which apparently is pronounced walk-a-mol-e not gwaa-ca-mol-ee. Hum. Who knew?)
Plus carne asada, Spanish rice and beans.
Does he know the way to my heart or what?
I love you Daniel!

HE'S HERE!!!

Here that??
It's me celebrating!
My Daniel is officially a Utah resident!
As in he lives down the street from me. I love it!
My mom gave me a ticket to fly to LA Saturday night. I flew in, spent the night,
and then drove with him back to Utah.
So we had 14 hours all to ourselves in the car just to talk, laugh and just be together. I've missed that! With all the moving and visitation crap going on, we haven't had much time to just be together and I've missed him terribly. He's my best friend. I love just being with him. I love hearing his voice and holding his hand. It's the little things I appreciate most. Like, he always tells me he loves me before we say goodbye. I know he means it. I can see it in his eyes and feel it when he kisses me. He loves me. Just me. I don't have to be anyone or anything else and even after 14 cramped hours in the car, he still thinks I'm the most beautiful woman alive.
So I have a brilliant idea...
I think we're going to move the wedding date up!
No sense in waiting too long now!

I struggle sometimes...

I'm engaged to the most patient, loving and supportive man. Dan loves me in ways that surprise me everyday. He is affectionate, thoughtful, kind and he makes me laugh. He honestly thinks I'm the most beautiful woman in the world. And all other girls have disappeared for him. He listens when I talk and remembers things that I'm concerned about or that I might want or want to do. He sends me little notes to remind me he misses me and is thinking about me. He is working his tail off to be able to buy our little family a house and move out here so we can be together. He sincerely loves my daughter and misses her just as much as he misses me. Maybe even more! I could go on and on. Dan is such a good man and I'm the luckiest girl in the world that he waited patiently for 10 years for me to figure out what I really wanted.
So where's the struggle? It's me!! Stupid, insecure me. I struggle to accept his love. I struggle to trust. I struggle with just allowing things to be good. I was burned so badly in the past that even a compliment is hard for me to accept. Take last night. I must have driven him nuts with my anxiety. But, he patiently talked me through three or four phone calls until I finally settled down enough to sleep.
I love Dan so much. I wish I had better words to describe how I feel. I need to just relax. Just accept that I have an incredible man, who loves me unconditionally. He's not going anywhere. He won't hurt me. He won't lie to me. And in 50 years, he's still going to want to hold my hand and spend every minute possible together. Hopefully by then I'm not so neurotic!

I believe in true love

I just love my grandparents! I've been so blessed to have both sets with me my whole life. And now I get to raise Celia with them as a special part of her life. My Grandpa Terry and Grandma Bunny live just about a mile away. They have dinner with us quite a bit and they've been so good about attending events that the grandkids have. They've been married over 50 years. I just love to watch them together. They still hold hands and snuggle! As my grandma's memory has faded, it's become a bit of a challenge to my grandfather. I am amazed at the tenderness he shows her. He helps her with her jacket, and guides her through mealtimes. And when she asks the same question a dozen times in a row, he responds patiently and kindly. Last night, they were talking with my parents about a small loveseat that my mom had been keeping at her house. She wanted to know if my grandma wanted it back. His response touched me so much I've been thinking about it ever since. He said he wouldn't mind having it back because it was nice to sit next to Bunny. After fifty years they still cherish those quite, tender moments together! I believe in true love. I believe that love is forever. I've seen it and it give me hope.
